Introducing Townie AI
Last month, we launched a major overhaul of Townie, our AI assistant that helps you build apps. Val Town was already the best website to turn an idea into a deployed app. Townie can help you ship much faster.
In the following video, I use Townie to make an RSVP page – with a backend and database – in just a few prompts and a couple minutes.
But the best way to see what Townie is like is to just go play with it.

Community creations
Your creativity never ceases to amaze us. Here are some of the cool things built with Townie so far.
Fal Image Generator
In under a minute and a single prompt, Batuhan built a tool to generate images with Fal AI.
Twitter Tracker
Charmaine built a site that tracks mentions of her company’s product on Twitter.
Blog summaries
With a handful of prompts, Peter made a neat tool to get Claude to summarize a blog post just by pasting a link.
Mood tracker
Marcus was able to build a mood-tracking app in minutes.
Slack Bot
Johnnie built a Slack bot for his team.
The sky’s the limit
Townie can make almost anything you can imagine. Here’s more inspiration from the community to get you started:
- Carl Lange built a DNDoodle, a scheduling app for D&D groups with improved features like setting poll end dates and identifying the DM’s availability separately
- David Thyresson built a Bedtime Story Maker that generates personalized children’s stories with illustrations using OpenAI and Fal AI
- @yawnxyz built Newsly, a val that stores emails in a SQLite database, allowing you to access your newsletters
- @jdan built an interactive Wikipedia Family Tree Crawler that visualizes parent-child relationships by crawling Wikipedia infoboxes
- @moe created an awesome Number Chain Puzzle game where players drag between adjacent squares with the same number to score points
- @roramigator built a Hacker News digest that emails you the top stories from Hacker News every 3 days
- Giles built an email expenser that processes email content using GPT4, extracts key information like income and expenses, and logs it to a Google Sheet
- @roramigator created a idle clicker game about spreading a religion
